How to get the BEST buy on BIG items.

It never hurts to ask.

Couch
I think an important thing to remember when going to buy a larger item is that it never hurts to ask what they can do for you on the price. And the next best thing you can do, is be willing to walk away; let time be on your side. If you can do this, you can work deals, deals and more deals. Come back the next day or so, and always go back to the same salesperson if you can. But, 'be willing to walk away.' If it gets sold, there will be another one. Also do your homework, check the prices in many places and ask if they will match a similar price in another store.

On "Craigslist" just offer a lower price.

And as for a moving vehicle; just know that the time of year is crucial. Watch to see if their new stock is in (August or September). Do you want to buy a boat or pontoon? If you wait till the fall in MN you will get a great deal. And it is better to pay a $200 storage fee and save $3000 - $5000 than to bypass that great deal, don't you think?

Then there is the whole thing about trade-ins. To be honest I don't believe in them. I run a car till it drops.

I also look for people selling their vehicle. I just take it to our local mechanic and have him give it the once over. The savings are incomparable.

I also pray about purchases, 'Yes I do.' God knows a lot more about a good deal than I do, so I ask Him.

The Little Blue Omni Story

I have to tell you about a car that I once bought, after praying about it, of course. It was a Blue Dodge Omni. Now you may say that isn’t much of a car! But it turned out to be a complete winner in every way. I was a newly single mom and I needed a reliable car. Boy did I get one. The price was one I could afford, it was in great condition and it got great gas mileage. Not only did it work for me for years, but after I passed it on to my son, then when he was done with it, he passed it on to a friend. Simply one of the best buys I have ever made.
